Spring Visit Days

To further explore the opportunities and benefits of a Humphrey School degree, we offer admitted students the opportunity to attend one of our Spring Visit Days. The 2015 Spring Visit Days will be held on Saturday, March 28 and Saturday, April 11. A small number of travel grants are available for students traveling more than 150 miles to attend a Spring Visit Day event. Please complete the following request form for consideration..

Humphrey Student Ambassadors

We also invite you to contact one of our current students to ask any further questions you may have about the Humphrey School. We have Ambassadors from every degree program and can answer questions you may have about student life, Humphrey culture, classes, resources, and so forth. Please visit our Ambassadors page to get in touch.

Online Chats

We understand that some students may not be able to physically visit the Humphrey School, so we will be hosting an online chat for admitted students to connect with staff from the Humphrey Student Services office and current students. Students have the opportunity to ask questions about admissions, finances, student life in Minnesota, and anything else. Visit the chat page during the upcoming session on Tuesday, April 7, 2016 at 5:30-6:30pm CST.

Costs and Financing

We understand that a graduate school education is a significant investment. To assist students with their planning, the Humphrey School provides a brief overview of resources available through the Humphrey School, the University of Minnesota, and federal assistance programs.

Requesting a Deferral of Your Admission

Admitted applicants may request a one year deferral of their admission. Requests for deferrals are considered on a case-by-case basis. Deferral requests must be submitted prior to course registration to be considered, and may be sent to Amy Luitjens, Director of Admissions, by completing this online form: If a one year deferral is granted, the student must:

  • Complete the online Enrollment Form by indicating "Yes"
  • Plan to resubmit an updated personal statement and resume directly to the Director of Admissions by January 2016 in order to be considered for financial aid in the following year, and by April 1, 2016 for all other applicants.
  • Deferred applicants will receive a request to submit their updated materials in the fall of 2015.

Registration + Orientation

Before you can register and activate your admission to the University of Minnesota, you will be required to complete a series of online orientation activities. Former students of the University of Minnesota will also be required to complete these online activities before registering. We hope to send information about orientation in early May.
