The Hubert H. Humphrey Public Leadership Awards were inaugurated in 2003 to mark the 25th anniversary of the Institute taking the name of Minnesota's most famous public servant. The awards honor individuals, organizations, or projects that have made contributions to the common good through public leadership and service.
To support future leaders, the gala dinner also is a scholarship fundraiser. Proceeds from the event benefit a student scholarship initiative of the Humphrey School Advisory Council. Since its inception in 2003, the Public Leadership Awards dinner has raised more than $300,000 for student scholarships.
