Why did you choose the Humphrey School?
I was impressed by the amount of interaction among faculty members, the attention the faculty paid to students, and the small size of the classes.
What advice would you give to current Humphrey students?
I would say, take advantage of all the opportunities you have. Even if you’re not sure how a particular class will fit into your education or career, take the class— because you’re not going to have a lot of chances to do that later on in life. I have no regrets about what I studied at the Humphrey. Even material that seemed irrelevant at the time, I’ve since found use for in my professional life. And some of the subject matter was just cool!
What are your experiences with the Humphrey Network?
I can absolutely say that I got my job because of the Humphrey School. One of the recruiters at my current job was a Humphrey alumna who specifically wanted to hire fellow Humphrey alumni. We have a tremendous network of Humphrey graduates in Minnesota and other places, like D.C.
What is public policy?
Public policy is action taken by government, nonprofit groups, and the community that affects how people live their lives.
